📒 Weekly Log! (7/15 – 7/21)

Update 10/2/24: Added a “Read More” line.

Monday, 7/15/24

Paper Mario TTYD:

Chapter 5 (Keelhaul Key) is done! I was a little stupid at certain parts because I forgot where the boat platforms were, and fighting Cortez took two tries since I was most definitely not prepared for his third phase. (laughs) It was getting late, so I started Chapter 6 (Excess Express and Poshley Heights), but didn’t progress any further than that.

Ikemen Villains:

I didn’t mention it last night since it happened so late and I was already in bed, but my phone was the one that actually reminded me that I had this game downloaded. (laughs) Over the weekend, my phone was basically like, “Hey this game is downloaded. Play it now!” And I proceeded to not open it until late last night before bed.

Hilariously enough, the only reason why I had this downloaded was because at Anime Expo, if you showed the staff that you downloaded the game, you would get free merch. And like…who am I to deny myself free merch? Especially when pretty boys are involved. (laughs)

Granted, it’s been a long time since I last played an otome mobile game. And my honest opinion? I was…interested. The fact that I was able to find four boys that piqued my interest astounded me. Unfortunately, mobile games are a hit-or-miss for me, which is why I don’t play them often. Usually it’s just one or two boys (and even then, most of the time it’s just one boy), so I was very surprised that I eyezoomed at four.

HOWEVER. After playing through the prologue (and to my dismay), the four guys I cared about weren’t playable…yet. I can change love interests at any time and not lose my progress, so that’s really neat. Since there were only three available to choose from, I chose William. He’s pretty enough and his archetype does technically fall into the types of characters I enjoy (to an extent). I don’t care for the other two characters, but I think because the story in general is interesting, I’ll end up going down their routes just for completion’s sake.

Referencing the picture below, the current playable routes (in the English version) are the three in the middle. The one in the direct middle is William. The ones I would like to romance are the three on the far left and the one who is second from the right. And lowkey the guy on the far right simply because he is voiced by one of my favorite voice actors, Takahashi Hiroki.

Touken Ranbu:

Remember that background I mentioned I wanted to get? No? Well, it has been a while, hasn’t it? (laughs) Anyway, I was able to collect enough materials to trade for it! I immediately changed my background and it looks soooo pretty~

I just barely made it to that threshold with the last two materials needed since they’re all collected differently in-game. Gameplay-wise, it was much easier to collect the two items on the right than the two on the left. I still had tons of time to collect materials, but I wanted to get it as early as possible so I could use it in the current season. What can I say, I like when my backgrounds are seasonal/topical!

Honkai Star Rail:

I went to go see a show with my mom today, so I didn’t do too much before we needed to eat dinner and leave the house.

HOWEVER. When I came home later that evening, my friend told me they showed off a new character that will be pullable later this year (his name is Moze). Previously, they released Moze’s silhouette and I remember already loving that. It was literally just a silhouette, but it reminded me of Rigan from Oninaki. Rigan was my favorite character in Oninaki, and his stock image matched Moze’s silhouette pose almost exactly. With how similar their poses were, I was going to be so distraught if I ended up not liking Moze. Here’s a little side-by-side by yours truly so you can see that I’m not being delulu. (laughs)

And then my friend showed me Moze’s splash art…and I was absolutely smitten. Embarrassingly so. I love him so much. I can’t wait to have him on my roster. Lowkey might have to stop pulling for Argenti so I can start saving up gems again. I’ve done really well with not spending money on this game and I’m not about to start now. There are other gacha games that I will spend money on, but HSR is not one of them. And Jiaoqiu is coming later this year as well. While he’s not a fox boy I would gravitate towards, he is voiced by one of my favorite Japanese voice actors, Toyonaga Toshiyuki. So will I be pulling Jiaoqiu? Yes, yes I will.

Touken Ranbu:

Today was all Touken Ranbu because, honestly, I was very lazy. (laughs) But anyway, look who came back from his kiwame training~

Friday, 7/19/24

Arkham Horror:

We finished the Edge of the Earth campaign today, so we’ll be starting the Scarlet Keys campaign next week! I still need to figure out who I’m playing next, but I have a few options. I would like to choose soon so I can start looking at deck-building guides.

Touken Ranbu:

Still running the event, but shell collecting isn’t going terribly. I realized a little too late that I’ve been giving my sword boys the wrong troops when running the event, so once I swapped troops, shell collecting got way easier. There’s a little less than 10 days of the event remaining, so I’m trying my best with the resources I got!

On a side note, I’m two milestones away from receiving Chiganemaru as an event reward! He’s a little cutie and his voice is very soothing. Chiganemaru has a special skill that will assist me with event maps if he’s on my team. His skill is different than Chiyoganemaru’s, and it’ll also be my first time getting him, so I’m excited! Getting new swords is fun!

Saturday, 7/20/24 & Sunday, 7/21/24

I basically did the same thing on Saturday and Sunday, so I’ll just combine the weekend together and make it easier on myself. There was something stupidly hilarious about being able to connect my laptop to my TV with an HDMI cable since I could then have a YouTube video playing on the TV screen while I played Honkai Star Rail on my laptop screen. All the while playing Touken Ranbu on my phone. It sounds stupid, but I felt powerful. (laughs)

Touken Ranbu:

~ Azuki Nagamitsu goes on his journey next! It was honestly a late-night decision as Friday turned to Saturday (a literal midnight to 1am decision lol). I am running low on kiwame materials, so after Azuki comes back, I’ll need to hold off until I can stock up again. Sometimes it’s so hard to say no to new stock art!

~ You guys already knew I was close to getting Chiganemaru and he came home on Saturday! And Chatannakiri came home on Sunday! TouRabu events always have sword boys as reward milestones, so I’m excited to see how many I can get from this one!

~ Also on Sunday, I decided to spend money to buy some event items to help with shell collection. LOOK. TouRabu is one of the few games I am willing to spend money on and I was on a mission. A MISSION. So I bought a few items, right? Didn’t read the name of one of them properly and when I used it during an event run, I was shocked at the multiplier. The shell collection for the next couple of runs was absolutely insane. So much so that I hit many event milestones. I’m so pleased with how my event runs are going. Look at how many new boys I have! And I even got the Hatano Wataru sword boy (rainbow background)! (laughs) There are only 10 more rewards to collect, so let’s see how many I can get until the event ends! 💪

Twisted Wonderland:

I finished the event~ My goal of getting SSR Leona was a success, and I cannot tell you how many times SR Kalim dropped for me. (laughs) Since I finished the event, I got an R Vil and SR Lilia for free as well. So I technically was able to get all of the event cards this time around! Luck wasn’t quite on my side with the Stitch event, but I’m glad my luck pulled through during the Savanna event!

Honkai Star Rail:

Unfortunately, Argenti still hasn’t come home, so I’m making the executive decision to stop pulling for him and start saving for Jiaoqiu and Moze. Oh, my poor gems…

✨✨✨✨✨

This week felt a little repetitive again, but I can explain! Between gem collecting in HSR, event running in both TouRabu and TWST, I was on…a mission. And that mission was kicking ass and taking names clearing events and collecting PNGs. I’m all clear for TWST, so all that’s left is TouRabu and HSR. The TouRabu event ends at the end of the month and HSR is just a continuous thing. So thanks for being patient with me while I try to get my boys. (laughs)

…It has also come to my attention that I still haven’t watched the final episode of Hanamaru… I’ll, uh, get to it eventually!

Until next time! Bye bye~
